A Glimpse at the Year's Project, and an Added Goal
I've been bad at posting and developing. It's time to change both.
I’ve been bad at doing this 500 words a week thing, especially in the last couple of months. And I’ve been on a Minecraft binge recently. Those who play know how that goes. I’ll still be playing, but I need to cut back. Though I reserve the right to make an analysis post or tell a funny story about the server I’m on or something in the future, this isn’t, by and large, meant to be a Minecraft blog. I’ll post a screenshot though. This is me on a rescue mission when someone got trapped in the nether.
So now, I’m adding a New Year’s Goal to the two mentioned in my previous post.
One goal was to get a game on Steam.
Another was to say yes to scary (but good-for-me) things more.
The third is now going to be to post here once weekly, attempt to hit that 400-500 word target consistently each week, and to include at least a minor development update of the intended Steam project or another project every two weeks.
Here is a very small piece of an art piece I’ve been working on for the project, which may eventually grace its title screen:
(It should be crisper in-game. Due to my incredibly late writing of this post, I’m not confident I will be taking time to understand why Substack wants to blur a PNG I scaled up to integer values using “nearest” scaling.)
This has two ends:
It’ll help support me actually working on things.
It’ll help get the word out about what I’m working on.
And a hidden, possibly scary and good for me third point:
I have to show the world what I’m working on.
I mean, the whole world isn’t reading this Substack, but the point is it’ll be out there, so it’ll need to be of a certain quality and will require a certain amount of fortitude to put out there.
After all of that I suppose I probably should put out a GIF or something, because I’ve been given to understand that moving pictures help convey, well, movement.
I’m excited for this project and will be showing off more pixel art and such for it in the coming few weeks. There will also be some “lore” as it were, but I think it’ll be best to let players discover most of that on their own. I might even build a Steam page earlier than necessary so I can blog through the process. Content!
